Venue & How to get there
Directions Map - Venue Location
The Department
of Microbiology and Immunology is located on Royal Parade,
behind the Microbiological Diagnostic Unit, opposite the Private
wing of the Royal Melbourne Hospital, just past Grattan street.
It is Building
184 on the attached map.
It can be
accessed on foot by Gate 11 on Royal Parade (between MDU and
Howard Florey Institute), or from other gates as shown on the
map.
Entry is by the
stairs on the north side of the building that lead to the first
floor (signs will be put up).
The door that
will be open for entry to the lecture theatres is the door
furthest along the walk way.
The door will be
open from 8.15 am.
Melbourne
University may be accessed by most trams that run along Swanston
Street, and by tram 49 that runs along Elizabeth Street.
Parking is also available on campus in the Underground car park
(195 on the map) which can be accessed from Gate 10 off Grattan
Street. A fee of $5.00 is payable (coins only) into the coin
machine at the gate. Alternately there may be some parking in
the adjacent streets.

Workshop
Overview
This will be an interactive
wet workshop presented by the Parasitology & Tropical Medicine
Special Interest Group of the Australian Society for
Microbiology.
Slides of various intestinal
parasites (from Lynne Garcia's teaching collection) will be distributed for delegates to check their
diagnostic skills followed by a discussion on each of the
important parasites. Important tips in diagnosis and
update on new clinical information will be discussed.
A handbook will be provided
which will include all the information covered in the workshop.
There will be a short break
for morning tea and the workshop will be followed by lunch -
included with registration.
